In order to deal with the heavy-duty works, a crane is a mechanical instrument that is required. Heavy objects are required that needs to be moved from one place to another when it is being used. It can also be used for the other purposes such as the scrap yards, factories, junkyards and other such areas since it finds its applications mostly at the construction sites. The cranes in Sydney are mainly consisting of three major parts including the sheaves, hoist, and wire.
On the basis of the need and the usage, overhead cranes can be of several types and the following are the types of cranes that you would be coming across:
Bridge Cranes
It is mainly on the metal beams that run along with the ceiling of the room of the factory or the warehouse when it comes to the bridge cranes. A trolley mainly travels with it and carries the load as well as a hoist which is required for lifting and lowering down the objects since it requires two strong beams on the sides. These cranes are of further two types here:
Top running bridge cranes: It is mainly on the top beams where these cranes mainly run. For some easy movement of the cranes, this would need some space above the beam. As the rooms here require the higher ceilings, the installation should be planned accordingly. These re the cranes that are able to lift the heavy objects and they are also quite strong here.
Bottom running bridge cranes: It is mainly at the bottom of the beam is on which these cranes operate. The available room height is reduced through this and can be easily installed in an existing factory.
Monorail cranes
Compared to the bridge cranes, these are simple types of cranes that are used. They mainly operate on a single rail that is mounted on the ceiling unlike the latter. By means of a forklift, is how they operate. From either a distance or by a car that moves behind the forklift, is how they can run.
In order to lift objects such as the boxes, other similar objects, as well as the cartons these forklifts that can be used. In the small units as well these cranes are mainly used.
Jib cranes
For the smaller workplaces with that of the limited space, these cranes are quite compact as well as efficient. It is mainly on something that is stationary including the wall where one of the ends remains fixed. To make sure that the crane can swivel within the room, hinges are provided. At about 20 feet, the distances that are covered is quite small and it mainly carries the lighter loads.
Gantry cranes
In terms of the bridge cranes, these cranes are quite advanced and highly modified. They are mainly mounted on the floor when it comes to the tracks here. They are also able to carry heavy loads as much as 350 tons due to this. They even have deep access to water. These are found at the ports and the docks and are mainly used for loading and unloading of the cargo.
